SUMMARY Cutaneous metastases are an infrequent manifestation of internal neoplasms. Its diagnosis requires a high index of clinical suspicion, since the findings can be subtle. These reveal the presence of a disseminated malignant tumor and can allow the diagnosis of unknown internal neoplasms, or indicate the dissemination or recurrence of others already diagnosed. MC of ovarian carcinoma usually appears in advanced disease and may indicate a poor prognosis. Early recovery can carry out an accurate and rapid diagnosis, with timely emergency treatment, although in most cases they are indicators of an unfortunate prognosis.

RESUMO

Background: Current methods for follow-up of Ovarian Cancer (OC) are widespread, especially with CA125, which, however, is not a perfect biomarker and thus further investigation for new methods of evaluation are warranted. The feasibility of Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) in advanced OC was investigated in this case report. Case presentation: A 19-year-old woman with advanced low-grade serous papillary adenocarcinoma and relapsed disease did not have a CA125 correspondent with disease relapse. CTCs were evaluated, compared with CA125 and with image exams. Relapses were not correspondent to elevations of CA125. CTCs demonstrated usefulness, being proportional to major disease relapse, especially in the peritoneum. CTCs may be used as a complementary diagnosis tool when marginal/small increases in CA-125 levels are observed. Conclusions: In OC, CTCs can be an important tool to predict recurrence, response to treatment and improve the quality of decision-making, in order to offer the best treatment to a determined group of patients (AU)

RESUMO

We describe here a case of female patient who presented with mild proximal weakness, myalgia, and markedly elevated CPK, which could be ascribed to paraneoplastic necrotizing myopathy in association with ovarian adenocarcinoma. A histologic examination of the vastus lateralis muscle showed necrosis of muscle fibers without inflammatory cell infiltration. Her neurologic symptoms improved following tumor resection and systemic chemotherapy. Paraneoplastic necrotizing myopathy may be a presenting manifestation of malignancy, and early recognition and prompt treatment are crucial for the clinical improvement.

RESUMO

Metastatic gastric cancer is extremely rare and gastric metastasis from ovarian adenocarcinoma has rarely been reported. All of the previously reported metastatic lesions presented as an ulcerative lesions. We report a case of 49-year-old woman in which gastric metastasis from ovarian adenocarcinoma presented as a submucosal tumor without ulceration on endoscopic examination. Gastrointestinal stromal tumor was suspected on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) examination. It was confirmed histopathologically as metastatic ovarian adenocarcinoma after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) with enucleation. Submucosal tumor of the stomach in patients with ovarian carcinoma should not be overlooked and ESD with enucleation may be a viable option when EUS with fine needle aspiration is not available.

RESUMO

Neuroendocrine tumor is a very heterogenous group arising from the neuroendocrine cells. Especially, large cell neuroendocrine tumor of the ovary is a extremely rare aggressive neoplasm, characteristically arising in association with a surface epithelial tumor. This report describes a mixed type of large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the ovary. A 63-year old woman presented with abdominal distension and discomfort underwent staging laparotomy under the impression of ovarian cancer. The operation revealed an small ovarian mass with invasion of multiple region in peritoneal cavity by the tumor. Immunohistochemical and ultrastructural analysis confirmed the neuroendocrine nature of the tumor. The adenocarcinoma in this case is mixture of mucinous and endometrioid type. A diagnosis of stage IIIc mixed large cell neuroendocrine tumor and adenocarcinoma of the ovary was rendered. She is subsequently being treated with Paclitaxel and Carboplatin combination chemotherapy.

RESUMO

Objective To study on the expressions of IL-8mRNA,MCP-1mRNA and MIP-1mRNA and the counts of TAM and MC and their correlation in ovarian adenocarcinoma tissues. Methods detecting the expressive levels of IL-8mRNA,MCP-1mRNA In situ hybridization were derected, and MIP-1?mRNA and Envision immunohistochemistry wes used for the counts of TAM and MC.Results The positive rates of IL-8mRNA,MCP-1mRNA and MIP-1?mRNA expressions and the counts of TAM and MC were significantly lower in the cases of histologic grade G1,clinical stage Ⅰ+Ⅱ,no-metastasis of regional lymph node, and no-infiltration of peritumoral tissues than those in the ones of histologic grade G3,clinical stage Ⅲ+Ⅳ,metastasis of regional lymph node, and infiltration peritumoral tissues(P

RESUMO

Objective:To establish the best way of tumor-bearing nude mice model with epithelial ovarian adenocarcinoma cell lines. Methods:CAOV3 (wall-attached cell) and COC2 (suspended cell) cell lines were transplanted subcutaneously to the nude mice by injection with different cell concentration or tissue block implantation. Results:The rate and time of tumor formation in the two cell lines were not related to cell concentration in the range from 5?10 6/0.2 ml to 6?10 7/0.2 ml. Time of tumor formation was earlier(especially in the manner of tissue block implantation),the successful rate of tumor formation was higher and the speed of tumor growth was relatively retarded in the nude mice bore CAOV3 cell line's tumor than that in COC2 cell line's. But once tumors were formed in nude mice bearing COC2 cell line, the mice died too fast to make experiment because of very quick speed of tumor growth. Conclusion:Wall-attached cell line, tissue block implantation with trocar may be the best way to establish tumor-bearing nude mice model in epithelial ovarian adenocarcinoma cell lines.

RESUMO

This is the first time a case of ovarian adenocarcinoma was diagnosed in a twin pregnant woman at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of HuÕ Central Hospital. The incidence of ovarian cancer during pregnancy is approximately 1 to 25000 pregnancies. About 70 cases of ovarian adenocarcinoma during pregnancy have been reported. to our knowledge, this is the first report of poorly differentiated papillary serious adenocarcinoma in twin pregnancy. Overall, the ovarian adenocarcinoma has poor prognosis. It is necessary to enhance the primary health care system to detect the disease at the earlier stage, obtain better treatment result and improve the prognosis. The maternal prognosis depends solely on the extension of the tumor. The fetal prognosis is poor during the first six months of pregnancy, especially if the tumor is advanced of progressive. The wishes of the parents and their family should be taken into account when making therapeutic decision for these cases.

RESUMO

When coexistence of carcinoma with similar histologic type is present in female genital tract, it is difficult to differentiate independent primary tumor from metastasis. Most of them are endometrial and ovarian tumors, but coexistence of uterine cervical and ovarian tumor with similar histologic type is rare. We experienced an independent primary tumor of ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma associated with mucinous adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix. The patient was a 50-year-old woman. She had a lower abdominal mass which was detected as a huge cyst on ultrasonography. Although the ovarian lesions were bilateral, features that preferred to consider independent primary tumor are listed as; absence of lymphatic or vascular invasion, absence of ovarian surface implant, superficial invasion of cervical tumor, absence of tumor in abdominal cavity, and disease free follow-up after removal of the tumor.
